01 / In our clients’ words

What it’s like to work with us.

From ProvenExpert and Sortlist, independent review platforms. Shortened, otherwise word for word.

Finally found an agency that actually gets GEO. I’d been talking to SEO shops for months and they all kept trying to sell me the same keyword and backlink playbook, just with “AI” sprinkled on top. Sourcelift is different. They understand how LLMs pull and cite sources, and they build strategy around that, not around Google rankings from 2015.

[…] Communication was direct and they didn’t oversell. Still early days on results, but I’m glad I found them.

We particularly appreciated Sourcelift’s technical approach to GEO and the fact that their recommendations were based on data rather than generic content marketing tactics.

Their reporting was clear and actionable, and we saw a 68% increase in our appearances in Google AI Overviews during the collaboration.

02 / What we find

Three ways brands lose out in AI search.

01

Unreadable to AI

  • Content only loads with JavaScript, so Claude can’t read it
  • Every page set to noindex
  • Schema names a keyword, not the brand
02

Wrong facts, repeated

  • Wrong founding year
  • An old address on 6 of the 9 sources AI reads
  • An undated price, so AI quotes another site’s figure
03

Buyers sent elsewhere

  • No service page, so AI sends buyers to competitors
  • A bad review raised by 3 of 5 engines
  • 0 of 9 recommendations link to the site

03 / Three diagnoses

Strong on Google, missing from AI answers.

Names removed. Each big number is a count of real AI answers.

US SaaS companyChatGPT, AI Overviews

Page one on Google, barely named by AI

2 of 10 answers named it

This brand 2/10

Ranks on page one for its main keyword, with solid SEO and backlinks.

What we found

  • Missing from the comparison pages and reviews the engines cite

What we’d fix first: Get the brand named in the sources the engines already trust, then rerun the same 10 prompts.

International education group5 engines, 4 languages

7.7 times a rival’s organic traffic, named less often by AI

15 of 45 answers named it

This brand 15/45
Top competitor 27/45

Outside its home market, 6 of 30 answers named it.

What we found

  • An engine gives it another company’s address
  • Program price differs across language versions
  • On 1 of the 4 lists the engines cite, and not on Wikidata

What we’d fix first: Correct what the engines get wrong, then earn a place on the lists they cite.

US marketing agency5 engines

Absent from every answer about its own category

0 of 30 category answers named it

Category answers naming it 0/30
Brand answers raising a bad review 3/5

Google shows AI Overviews on 60 of its 67 keywords. It’s cited in none.

What we found

  • A key subdomain shows 0 words without JavaScript
  • 26 H1 tags and an empty XML sitemap
  • Its /about and /case-studies pages return a 404

What we’d fix first: Make every page readable without JavaScript and repair the broken ones, then answer the questions behind those 60 keywords.

05 / How we count

A score that only goes up is an ad, not a measurement.

Many GEO vendors sell a visibility score built on their own formula, and a formula can be tuned until the line goes up. Every month we ask each engine the same buying questions, count whether it names, cites and links to you, and send you every answer to check.

  1. 01 Named The answer mentions your brand.
  2. 02 Cited Your page is listed as a source.
  3. 03 Linked Buyers can click through to you.
